Bay of Plenty get ready – this month Te Puke will host the biggest and most spook-tacular Halloween the town has ever seen.

And there’s still time to get eerily crafty and create your own homemade Halloween masks – or pre-plan a devilish, theatrical face paint design – to wear on October 31 to win prizes!

“This year’s treat trail theme is ‘masquerade’, and we’re excited to see the kids’ imagination come to life,” said Sally Benning from EPIC Te Puke.

Participants are encouraged to get anything from feathers to paint, or buttons to shells.

“We’d love to see kids upcycle items from home and turn them into fantastic Halloween masks,” said Sally.

“We have 20 Halloween prize buckets to give away to the best homemade 20 mask or face paint-wearers.”

The annual Halloween Treat Trail is on Thursday, October 31, from 3pm-5pm, said Sally.

“We have more local businesses and organisations than ever before taking part, handing out lollies; shopping opportunities; gymsport demonstrations, The Hits radio station on site with games and prizes, live entertainment, face-painters, candy floss and more.”

To enjoy the Masquerade Parade Treat Trail, it starts at the Te Puke Library.

“Dress in your best costume, as there will be spot prizes for the most creative and spooky ensembles!”

Meanwhile, Te Puke War Memorial Hall will itself transform into a ‘Haunted Hall’ – complete with ghostly decorations and eerie lighting – and will host a night market until 6pm.

“Don’t forget to visit the food alley next to the hall, where you will find delicious treats to keep you going,” said Sally.

“Mark your calendar and bring your friends and family to Te Puke for a night to remember! We welcome kids from around the Bay of Plenty!”
