Get ready for a sensational fusion of theatre, dance, music, and of course, coffee!

The acclaimed production 'Show do Café' is set to light up the stage at Baycourt X Space on Thursday, October 31, and Friday, November 1.

Fresh off its triumph as “Best in Fringe 2024,” this immersive experience by the Andança Company promises to be a highlight of the Bay of Plenty’s cultural scene.

'Show do Café' is not your average theatre show. This groundbreaking performance invites audiences to explore the profound impact of coffee on society through a captivating mix of dance, theatre, and music. Journeying from the lush coffee plantations of Brazil to the vibrant streets of modern New Zealand, attendees will engage their senses in an unforgettable narrative.

"The performance beautifully intertwines Brazilian and Aotearoa cultures," said NZ Fringe Director Vanessa Stacey.

"Coffee transcends its role as a mere prop; it becomes an integral part of the experience, allowing the audience to drink, smell, and savour throughout the performance. It's an immersive journey that captivates beyond just sight and sound."

The narrative, rooted in Brazil’s rich coffee heritage, follows dancer and choreographer Stela Dara Resende Albuquerque as she explores her family's cultural, social, and emotional connections to coffee. Transitioning from Brazil's colonial past to New Zealand, the performance highlights the immigrant experience and the warmth of found family.

In addition to the show, the cast will host an interactive Capoeira, Dance, and Music Workshop on Friday, November 1, at 1pm at KJ Studios. This workshop invites locals to delve into dance and music, covering choreography, street dance styles, capoeira basics, and more.
