A series of varied weather conditions this week starts with a trough moving east across central New Zealand today.

Tauranga is set to have fine weather at first this morning, with a shift as a few showers are expected to develop around midday. Expect westerly winds, which will become fresh in the morning.

On Tuesday a front will move east onto the northern part of the South Island. In Tauranga there will be a few showers, turning to rain in the evening. Northwesterlies are expected, becoming fresh in the morning.

The front will continue its eastward movement across the North Island on Wednesday. While there is low confidence regarding significant rainfall accumulation in the northern Taranaki, Taihape, Taupo, and eastern Bay of Plenty, Tauranga can expect scattered showers. These showers are anticipated to ease by evening, with a shift to southwesterly winds.

A ridge of high pressure will bring a welcome change on Thursday, resulting in settled weather across much of the country. For Tauranga, the day is expected to be fine, complemented by gentle southwesterly winds. The risk of severe weather will remain minimal, making it a great day to enjoy the outdoors.
