NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising that emergency road repairs will be carried out at the intersection of State Highway 1 and State Highway 29 in Piarere tomorrow, Thursday, November 28.
The roundabout opened to traffic in September with two temporary approaches in place. Following recent poor weather, the surface of the SH29 temporary approach has deteriorated, requiring urgent repairs.
This work will be carried out under stop/go on Thursday, November 28 between 9am and 12pm. Motorists should expect delays of about 10 minutes during this time.
Meanwhile, great progress is being made on the permanent approach roads, with the SH1, Tīrau and SH29 legs expected to open this summer. The SH1 Cambridge approach is also on track to open in early 2025, with all construction expected to be completed in mid-2025.
NZTA thanks road users for their patience and asks people to adhere to the signage and take extra care when travelling through the area.
Keep up to date with SH1/SH29 intersection | NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi
Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey.

I drive st hiway2 BOP daily. Whakatane to Tauranga, and have to agree with "The Caveman" what the f is wrong with how roads are now built. Seal repairs getting done on a section of road, Rebuilt last season, an repairs done on sections within two days. While other sections get worse every season. To the point most drive around them to avoid damaging our vehicles.

where it takes two years to build a roundabout. mainly because of the time required to repair the temporary road they built to use while they work on the road. You don't know whether to laugh or weep.
