About half of Telecom's broadband customers are experiencing internet outages this morning following a mishap during planned maintenance on one of the service provider's servers.
SunLive has received complaints from Telecom customers in Brookfield and Bethlehem, who have been unable to connect to the internet since about 8am.
An email from Telecom to one complainant says the issue has been quickly identified and technicians are working to resume connectivity.
'A proportion of affected customers are already back online, and we are working hard to resolve the issue for all other customers. This may require customers turning their modems off and on again, but we will confirm the best course of action as soon as we can,” states the email.
SunLive's call to Telecom's internet helpdesk was met with an automated message stating:
'Currently some customers may be experiencing problems with their internet connection. The technicians are currently working on this issue.
'At this stage our representatives are unable to provide any additional information.
'We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.”
The situation will be updated via www.twitter.com/telecomnz
