Two people have been rescued after being reported missing at a Coromandel beach.
Emergency services were called to a multiple missing person report at Pokohino Beach, near Onemana, around 5pm..
Fire and Emergency, Police, St John Ambulance, Onemana Surf Life Saving, and Westpac Rescue - Auckland Helicopter were called to the report of two people missing in rough conditions at Pokohino Beach, reports a post on Coromandel's CFM Facebook page.
"Fortunately this story has a positive ending with the two located by rescue helicopter and after being checked out, were taken by helicopter to Middlemore Hospital in Auckland. They were reported to be in a moderate condition," the post reads.
"Whilst we have not received official confirmation, CFM understand that the two recovered were young people who went missing while swimming.
It's been a busy day for emergency services with a couple of accidents around the Coromandel/Hauraki district.
One person died following a crash at Orongo on SH25 just west of the Hauraki Rd turnoff.
