Crash near Welcome Bay sends one to hospital

One ambulance and a rapid response unit were dispatched to the crash

Update 10.14am: A car has left Waitao Road, Welcome Bay, and gone three metres down into a drain, according to a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson.

"No persons were trapped when we arrived," the spokesperson said.

The car went off the road at 8.55am, sending one person to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Four occupants were in the car sustaining moderate to minor injuries, a Police spokesperson said.


 
One ambulance and a rapid response unit were dispatched to the crash by Hato Hone St John, a spokesperson confirmed. 

"Our crews assessed and treated one patient in a moderate condition who was transported to Tauranga Hospital."

Three patients in a minor condition were assessed and treated at the scene.
