An early morning fire has destroyed a home in Papamoa.

A single dwelling building was well involved at the end of Papamoa Beach Road by Marjorie Lane when firefighters arrived on the scene around 7.45am.

Papamoa Fire Brigade chief fire officer Allan Bicker says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

'It was well involved by fire when we arrived.

'We've extinguished it, but the place it pretty much all gone. There is not really much in the way of salvage available.”

He says the occupants were all out of the house when they arrived.

The Western Bay of Plenty fire safety officer has been called to the scene to investigate the cause of the blaze.
