It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Lindsay Smylie, who passed away at home, surrounded by family.

Jim was the beloved soulmate and husband of Kaaren, father to Karen and Simon, Rob and Linda, Dave and Trine, Nicola, and Amy and Rob. He was a proud Poppa to Connor, Leah, Cormac, Paige, Flynn, Lachie, Charlotte, Niamh, Jordan, Eden, Angus, Quinn, Fergus, Ali, Lily, Arthur, and Freya.

He was a cherished brother of Edna, Hazel, the late Maureen, and Graeme and Diane. Jim was a beloved uncle to many, a dear cousin, and a treasured friend to all who knew him.

A strong man who lived life on his own terms with proud resilience, determined to the end – he truly did it his way.

A funeral service will be held at the Tauranga Yacht Club (90 Keith Allen Drive, Tauranga) at 11am on Saturday, 8 March 2025, followed by a private family burial.
