I believe the school holidays are not long enough. They are our favourite time of the year.

As a single mum with three sons, we love the school holidays. Having a flexible job means I can take the time off to enjoy my kids. We plan our school holiday adventures well in advance. As soon as school finished for 2024, we spent four days away to canoe part of the Whanganui River. After New Years, we went camping at a low-cost campground. We have the Mount Beach so close and some amazing local bush walks. There is so much to do.

We always feel sad when school goes back. More parents need to get involved with their kids and realise that kids don’t need expensive activities. There are so many free and cheap activity options locally. We only get a short season with our kids at home, make the most of these precious years!
