3.30pm State Highway 2 has reopened following a four-vehicle crash near Ōmokoroa.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said three ambulances and one rapid response unit went to the scene and two people, one in a serious condition and one in a moderate condition, were taken to Tauranga Hospital.
Two people in minor condition were assessed and treated at the scene.
Earlier: A section of State Highway 2 is closed following a four vehicle crash.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash on SH2, near Francis Rd, at 12:20pm.
"It appears six people were involved, with one person in a moderate to serious condition, and the others with minor to moderate injuries," said a police spokesperson in a statement.
"The road is closed near Francis Road as we work at the scene and diversions are in place, motorists are advised to expect delays."

NZTA reports that the crash is 220m north of Ōmokoroa Rd.
In a highway alert, the roading agency said people should "follow directions of emergency services in the area".
"Diversions may be required."

Traffic is reported to be stalled on State Highway 2, following a crash new Ōmokoroa.
Multiple cars are reported to have crashed near the new temporary roundabout.
Traffic is reported to be backed up in the area and people are being asked to avoid the area if possible.
