Whanganui Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old woman who died in a house fire around 1pm yesterday.

The fire was at a residential address in Maxwell Avenue, Durie Hill, Whanganui.

The woman was the sole occupant of the house at the time.

Police are investigating and the cause of the fire at this stage has yet to be determined.

The Whanganui Fire Service is assisting in this investigation.

The deceased is survived by her partner and three children.

Her details will not be released until next of kin has been informed.

The Whanganui Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the fire or noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time.
