Fruit lovers can now enjoy the much-anticipated Zespri RubyRed Kiwifruit, which has arrived in supermarkets and fresh fruit retailers nationally.

The unique red-fleshed fruit is set to add a vibrant splash of colour and an unforgettable berry-sweet flavour to fruit bowls, smoothies, and desserts.

Available nationwide until June, the fruit is expected to be in high demand.

Zespri general manager marketing KokHwee Ng said the Zespri RubyRed Kiwifruit was not only visually striking but also packed with nutritional benefits.

“Zespri RubyRed has a striking red flesh and a unique berry sweet taste. It also contains a number of antioxidants, including Vitamin C and anthocyanins, which are naturally occurring pigments giving the fruit its red colour,” said Ng.

“They are naturally smaller in size but packed full of goodness, making them a great healthy snack, a perfect addition to lunchboxes, or part of your favourite dish. Be sure to get in quick as they won’t be around for long.”

With delicate, smooth skin, the kiwifruit needs to be handled with care and stored in the refrigerator until ready to eat.

This season, Zespri expects to double production compared to 2024, harvesting about 10,800 tonnes.

Alongside domestic sales, the fruit will be exported to key Asia-Pacific markets, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, the Pacific Islands, and the United States, with further expansion planned in the coming years.
