State Highway 5 has reopened following an earlier truck crash.
Emergency services responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 5, between Tirau and Ngongotaha.
“A two-vehicle crash on SH5, near Waiohotu Rd was reported at around 3.10pm,” a police spokesperson said.
It is unknown at this stage if there are any injuries, although police said ambulance were also attending the scene.
“As of 4.55pm, both lanes are clear and open.”
NZTA Waka Kotahi advised that due to a truck crash in the Ngatira area, south of Waiohotu Rd, SH5 was closed from 3.41pm between SH28 and Ngongotaha.
Motorists were advised to expect delays and follow directions of emergency services in the area.
A detour was put in place from SH5 to SH28, SH29, then SH36 to Ngongotaha, with northbound traffic in reverse.
