Car crashes into yard + vid

Residents living on Waikite Road in Welcome Bay heard screeching, a huge bang and then screaming before discovering a car had crashed into a property.
Police say the Mitsubishi Legnum wagon lost control on Waikite Road, crashing about seven metres down a bank, rolling over a retaining wall and landing on its roof in the backyard of the property which backs onto Waikite Road.

A Mitsubishi Legnum wagon, which police say was being driven by a 16 year old youth, crashed into a property which backs on to Waikite Road in Welcome Bay.

The house, located on Discovery Road in Welcome Bay, was up for sale and no one was living in it. There was no damage to the house and minimal damage to the property – no one was injured.
Senior sergeant Ian Campion says the driver of the car was a 16 year old male. Prior to the crash, Ian says police were called to a party on Waikite Road which was getting out of hand.
It's not yet known if alcohol was a factor.

He says he is unsure whether the person driving the Mitsubishi was at the party but witnesses spoken to by SunLive say there were four people in the car. When the vehicle was being hauled from the yard, a SunLive reporter saw a box of Maverick bourbon RTDs in the front passenger seat.
Chrissie Walmsley lives directly across the road from where the vehicle crashed off the road and says she instantly thought of her daughter when she heard the loud crash because her daughter was at the party.
'When I came out there were lots of cars, lots of teenagers and lots of screaming and swearing,” says Chrissie.
She was relieved when she asked a teenager standing in the crowd where her daughter was and discovered she was still at the party.

'I saw lots and lots of teenagers and most of them were very pissed and standing around in shock,” says Chrissie.
Tabitha Bielby lives just up the road from the crash site and immediately phoned the emergency services.
'I was just about asleep and I heard a car going really fast and I thought ‘that car's going too fast'.”
Then I heard the screeching and the brakes, then I just heard a really loud bang,” says Tabitha.
She says the people who previously lived in the house had small children.
