Two people received minor injuries following a vehicle crash on State Highway 30 on Saturday night.
“Emergency services received a report of a single vehicle crash on SH30 near Morehu Road at around 9.40pm,” police said.
Hato Hone St John was notified at 9.37pm and responded with one ambulance and one rapid response unit to the scene.
“Our crews assessed and treated two patients in a minor condition at the scene,” Hato Hone St John said.
Fire and Emergency NZ northern shift manager Gareth Lewis said four fire trucks were sent to the scene, from Rotomā, Kawerau and Rotorua.
“We treat it as a worst-case scenario,” Lewis said.
“No one was trapped but initially we were treating it that way, as a worst-case scenario. We’d rather have those resources on the way in case they are required.”
Police said there were no reports of road blocking.
