Cars were diverting through a fuel station forecourt after a crash between a truck and a car, a motorist says.
Three people were moderately injured in the crash shortly before 4pm on Jellicoe St, Te Puke, a police spokeswoman said.
“Traffic management remains in place.”
Hato Hone St John was notified of a motor vehicle incident on Jellicoe Street, Te Puke, at 15:55, said a spokesperson.
"Two ambulances and one rapid response unit attended.
"One patient, in a moderate condition, was transported to Tauranga Hospital.
"Two additional patients, both in moderate conditions, were assessed and treated at the scene and declined transport."
A Te Puke resident who drove past not long after the incident said traffic was built up on both sides of the crash, outside Gull Te Puke.
He said vehicles were driving through the forecourt to get around the crash on the road.
“It was around 4pm so all the packhouses started emptying out,” he said. This meant there were massive traffic delays.
“The truck was on its side and the car was pretty banged up.”
He said police and Fire and Emergency services were on scene diverting the traffic and he saw an ambulance arriving.
