The partial closure of the Mauao base track is now scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The closure, which was initially planned for earlier in June, will take place from 6.30am to 4pm on Wednesday, June 25, said a statement from Tauranga City Council.
“This closure is planned to allow for the safe removal of two dying exotic pine trees and one exotic hawthorn tree.
“During the partial closure, people can still use half of the base track by entering from the Pilot Bay side.”
Between 6.30am and 9.30am, people must turn around at the closure. After 9.30am, part of the base track will reopen, allowing people to continue up Te Ara ō Tūtauaroa to join the Oruahine or Motukauri tracks.
Signage and barriers will be in place at all closure points, said council.
“We ask that the public respect the signs and barriers that are in place, as these are there for their own safety. Please note, these removal works are weather dependent.
“If work is delayed because of weather or other unforeseen circumstances, it may be carried out on Thursday, June 26, or Friday, June 27.
“We acknowledge these works have been rescheduled twice due to the weather and unforeseen circumstances and appreciate the public’s continued patience and understanding.”
