Sport Bay of Plenty are delighted to announce the completion of its 2012/13 KiwiSport funding round allocating over $725,000 in grants to clubs, schools and sporting organisations throughout the region from the KiwiSport Regional Partnership Fund.

Kiwisport is a Government funding initiative to promote sport for school-aged children that was announced by the Prime Minister in August 2009 and after a successful three years it has been continued until 2015.
The Regional Partnership Fund (RPF) is coordinated by Sport Bay of Plenty for use in Bay of Plenty communities on behalf of Sport NZ. The allocation is calculated on a per-capita basis based on the number of students in each region.
In this round of funding, Sport Bay of Plenty received 112 applications. All successful applicants are now working through confirming goals for the projects and all projects will be monitored by Sport Bay of Plenty.
Some Major Projects are:
Tauranga Hockey Association have received a total of $75,000 over a period of 3 years to deliver a range of programmes to school aged children 5-13 years of age through a cluster system. After a successful pilot in 2011/2012 the Association will now further develop their programmes.
Pongakawa School/ TECT Action Centre received $10,000 to go towards the purchase of equipment to fit out a new indoor facility TECT Pongakawa - The Action Centre. The Centre is currently under construction and will be a great asset to the wider community.
Futsal is coming to the Bay of Plenty region with the assistance of KiwiSport funding. Waikato Bay of Plenty Football has received $30,000 to provide opportunities for school aged children to participate in Futsal which is the only FIFA and NZ Football approved version of five-aside football and the world's fastest growing indoor sport.

Te Wharekura O Ruatoki students can look forward to new athletics and softball equipment and members of the Opotiki Pony Club will have more coaching and support with both being successful in receiving funding for their projects.
Bay of Plenty Wheelchair Rugby received funding to go towards the repair of their equipment also to reduce costs for their members to participate.
The Fordland Community Trust will purchase sporting equipment to enable them deliver sporting opportunities to their community including basketball, netball and volleyball.
Rotorua Girls' High school is introducing Speedminton to their students to encourage them to be active during their lunchtimes.
Te Puke Gymnastics have a growing membership and urgently needed more equipment to accommodate the growth.
Riding for the Disabled now can offer basic riding lessons to their members at a reduced cost with the Kiwisport funding received.

Major Projects
These Projects must demonstrate collaboration and /or reduce duplication of services, especially competition for athletes and coaches. Priority is given to projects that have at least four (4) partners involved, and have a mix of shorter term and longer term focus. It is intended that in a full year there will be at least three (3) projects in each of the three sub regions of the Bay of Plenty. A successful applicant will receive up to a maximum of $30,000 per annum.
