It was a night of thrills and spills at the ASB Bay Park Stadium last night as three championship races took place on the track.
Super Saloon Bay Champion 76M Karl Hanlon battles it out on the track.
Drivers battled for the top spot of each championship race. The races were the Sprint Car Gold Cup, round two of the East Coast Sprint Car Championships, and round two of the Bay of Plenty Championships.
Among the championship races was the second round of the Derby Team Challenge. People were encouraged to enter a team of friends, family, or workmates to get behind the wheel of a previously owned vehicle and drive it around the track.
Drivers were to use their best race strategies to outlast their competitors.
The race is a points based competition not a demolition race. The objective is for competitors to keep their car and points in tact as they compete for a podium position on the night as well as the title of series winner after three rounds throughout the season.
