The Waikato Times reports both Dearns and Foster are top candidates for the job with Dearns in her first year as assistant coach and Foster having the same role in 2011.

Kia Magic coach Noeline Taurua will step down as head coach at the end of this year's trans-Tasman league in August and applications for the position close on June 14.

Bay of Plenty raised Dearns has coached Wellington and Eastern NPC sides, Capital Shakers and Western Flyers in the trans-Tasman pre curser series National Bank Cup.

Recently named as Canterbury's coach for the revamped NPC, Foster has spent the last two years as the Cook Island's coach and mentor.

Foster has also been in charge of the Canterbury Flames, New Zealand A and Southern Steel assistant coach in 2009.

As part of her Motivationz coaching business Foster has also been around the country and is set to visit Sri Lanka soon.

Former Waikato-based Silver Fern Sandra Edge has also shown interest in the position.
