Fatal crash in Hamilton

Waikato Police are urging drivers to maintain careful attention on the roads in light of three serious crashes this afternoon in and around Hamilton.

Waikato Prevention Manager Inspector Rob Lindsay said there was a serious injury crash at the intersection of State Highway 39 and Kakaramea Road at around 1.40pm, which left a female driver fighting for her life in Waikato Hospital.

'There was also a fatal crash State Highway 3 just after 3pm at the intersection of Ohaupo Road and Sowerby Road.” One person is dead and the Serious Crash Unit is currently investigating.

This was then followed by a two car crash at the intersection of Collins Road and Tuhikaramea Road, which Emergency Services are currently attending.

With the weather conditions being experienced across the country at the moment it is a timely reminder for people to be careful on our roads.

Police cannot stress enough for drivers to stick to the basics; wear your seatbelt, reduce your speed, increase your following distance and drive to the conditions.
