The inaugural Seriously Good Food Show is boasting a successful first day with around 5000 people estimated to have attended the show at the ASB Arena.
Around 120 displays and exhibits are on offer for people to experience products from New Zealand's top food and drink producers.
Trinity Wharf executive chef Simon Green passes around samples from a cooking demonstration at the Seriously Good Food Show today.
Claire Rogers attended the event this afternoon and says just about everyone she saw had bags of food and drink to take home.
She says there are a huge range of wine and cheeses and an array of other foods for people to try and buy.
Organiser Graeme Martin says the event is a milestone achievement for Tauranga's food industry.
'In planning this show, we have discovered amazing artisan suppliers and producers from across the country. They're too small for the big city shows, but they're products are fantastic.
'The Bay really does have access to an amazing range of high quality fresh produce and raw materials. These are transformed by the imagination and skill of our innovative food and beverage producers – from the small, artisan, boutique food companies to large national and international companies – into the wonderful local products we know and love.”
The Seriously Good Food Show is on again tomorrow from 10am to 5pm.
