What's on Today? Final holiday fun

There is lots to do in the Bay of Plenty today with two events to entertain the children for the final day of the school holidays.

Rugby fans

Rugby fans have one last chance to meet and greet their favourite players of the Bay of Plenty Steamers as the team makes one final visit to Bayfair Shopping Centre today.

Austin, 8 and Jordan Taylor, 5, with Johan Bardoul and Steve Honey.

The Steamers have been at Bayfair since Wednesday this week taking time to train with young Bay fans, teaching them ball-handling and rugby skills.

The training session at the team's major sponsor's location comes ahead of the start of the ITM season which kicks off on August 18 when they play Otago in Dunedin.

While training sessions ended on Saturday, the full Steamers team will be at the centre signing autographs and posing for photographs with their fans from 11am – 1pm today.

The team will be situated between Esquires and Wendy's, near the Countdown entrance, at Bayfair.

Synchronised swimming

Tauranga's synchronised swimmers have one more day to make a big splash on the sporting scene as the second and final day of the North Island Synchronised Swimming Championships gets underway today.

Tauranga Synchronised Swimming Club's 'Dolphins', aged 7-11, are competing at the North Island Championships today.

It is the first time in five years Tauranga has hosted the championships with 23 swimmers across the North Island competing at Baywave.

The championships are running alongside the North Island interschool championships.

Prime viewing of the event is at 9am – 1pm today at Baywave Mount Maunganui.
