Big Day Out line-up announced

After a two year hiatus the Big Day Out has announced three international acts to headline the event's return at Western Springs in January.

Rock legends Pearl Jam and Blur will play the Big Day Out alongside hip hop icon Snoop Lion, formerly known as Snoop Dogg.

Pearl Jam will headline the BDO next year.

Organisers of the event say Seattle-based band Pearl Jam will officially close the Kowahi Stage.
'You don't want to miss out on Pearl Jam's debut Big Day Out show, this will be your only chance to see Pearl Jam in New Zealand this summer.

Blur's Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree have not played in NZ since 1997.

Other big names to join the 'three white whales” include Arcade Fire, Major Lazer, The Lumineers, Tame Impala, Mac Miller.

Kiwi bands The Naked and Famous, The Phoenix Foundation, P-Money, Ladi6, Beastwars and Concord Dawn are also included in the announcement made at 6am.

'We welcome the one and the only Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion who will be joining us for the first time, performing all of his biggest hits.

'Get your shizzle rizzle ‘cos we are Snoopifying the 2014 Bigg Dogg Out! Snoop's good friends, musical collaborators and fellow Big Day Out first timers Major Lazer are also bringing their hip-hop dancehall mash-ups to the main stages to shift it all up a notch,” say organisers.

The move to Western Springs means a new dance stage will be set up on the Lakeside headlined by Sweden's Steve Angello.

Early Bird tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday, August 12 via www.bigdayout.com

and yep, what a band they are, $185 is money well spent for me, I have started the "piggy bank" already, bring it on.
