Second killer dog stopped

Rangers acting on local advice have caught a sheep-killing dog at Te Puna.

The white dog with black patches was seen by residents. Dog rangers tracked the unregistered bull terrier cross to a Tangitu Road house where it was captured.
The dog has been at large for about a month and in that time is believed to have killed a dozen sheep over several properties.
Community support helped catch the dog, says Western Bay ranger Bruce Wills, and was also the reason another killer dog at Paengaroa was able to be captured two weeks ago.
The community was on high alert and every dog was suspect. Both dogs have been destroyed.
