Smarter than the average bear

Unless you are a border collie, you won't know this. Because like me, the rest of us are too thick to be able to read.
I however am blessed. No, I am not a clever Labrador. Just a popular one. I have friends. Smart friends.

One of them is Benny, a border collie. And of course, being the smartest of dogs, he can read. And tie his shoe laces. And recite the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. And lick the dots off a Rubik's cube in record time. Border? You mean bordering on obsessive!
One thing us Labs do have,
in place of intelligence, is delegation skills and a keen sense of priority.
(Did someone mention food?)
So Benny tells me all the things I need to know. So who then, is really the smartest? Benny who spends all day reading, doing calculus (how many sheep will fit into a pen with dimensions X and Y?) or whipping out the Herald crossword; or myself, who supervises the reading, calculus, crossword... gets a border collie to supply the answers, then applies the useful information?
Well far be it for me to decide, I'm only listed seventh rating on the intelligence scale.
But let me point this out: while Benny is running himself ragged in ever decreasing circles, and going through a fair bit of stressful worrying – it's the Labrador who gets pole position with Johnny the Aussie Butcher. So who's the smart ass now?
