Organisers of the opening say the Rail Trail will be officially opened at 11am and once the ribbon is cut, the 8km ride along the historic, tree lined riverside will commence.
An opening day gala is also planned at the Victoria Battery site where there will be fun activities for everyone.
'Hang on to your event brochure as your unique number could be drawn to receive a spot prize, with a top prize of a mountain bike for one lucky participant.
'The Hauraki Rail Trail Charitable Trust will officially receive this new section of trail to manage and maintain, in addition to its management of the rest of the 82km trail.”
The Goldfields Railway will be operating train rides back to Waihi, or people can catch the shuttle in order to get back to their cars.
