District council preliminary results

Preliminary results for the Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Community Board elections show Jenny Hobbs replaces Norm Mayo in the Katikati Community Board.

Preliminary results for the Western Bay of Plenty have been counted.

Final preliminary results (all votes cast except special votes) show Jenny Hobbs has 1249 votes received kicking out Norm Mayo, who received a total of 1217 votes, from a vacancy on the Katikati Community Board.

Yesterday the progress results showed Norm in front with 1121 results with Jenny on 1113.

Of the 32,417 eligible voters in the district, 11,239 (34.67 per cent) had returned votes at 9.15am today. This compares to 37 per cent for the 2010 election.

It is anticipated an inaugural meeting of council will take place in November 2013.

Due to a corruption of a computer file containing voting results from Tauranga City Bay of Plenty District Health Board - results will not be available until later this morning.
