The sun's rays are set to stream across Tauranga this week with the MetService predicting the next five days to have more of a summer feel than previous weeks.
A large a slow moving anticyclone is drifting across the country pushing away the front which brought the strong winds and rain.
The forecast for the next five days, according to the MetService.
Daily highs in Tauranga will stick around the 25 degree mark with 26 degrees expected on Thursday.
Media and communications meteorologist Dan Corbett says unlike previous weeks, this anticyclone appears set to stick around with more fine and settled weather.
'The anticyclone will settle across the country right on the heels of the weekend rainmaker that is already sliding smartly off to the east.
'This anticyclone is also likely to weaken the next front and reduce it to just a band of cloud as it moves towards the far north of the country later this week.”
Meanwhile, Dan says the tropics will stay active this coming week with a moderate to high potential for cyclone development in the Coral Sea.
'At the same time, a separate topical feature is likely to pass close to the Kermadec Islands but stay away to the northeast of New Zealand.
'It's expected to bring a prolonged spell of easterly swells from Gisborne to Wairarapa.”
