Te Puke's Rebecca Torr is is capturing worldwide attention after using the Tinder app.

The 23-year-old is in Russia as part of the 15-strong New Zealand Olympic Winter Team to compete in snowboard, freeski, alpine skiing, ice speed skating and skeleton.

The Kiwi, who lives in Colorado, initially tweeted: 'It seems so far that not many Olympians use Tinder. Just wanna match with the Jamaican bobsled team”.

This was read by athletes, in the ‘Olympic Village' daily newspaper, who ran the tweet.

'Hopefully it brings me more matches and closer to the Jamaicans,” she replied.

Picked up by international media, Rebecca went on to tweet: 'This is too good! Media loves to take everything seriously.. But seriously tinder is on form here in Sochi hahahaha!!”.

Since then she's also tweeted: 'Maybe I should make an official public announcement that about 99 per cent of what I say on twitter is NOT serious AKA #tinder chat. #badpress LOL” – and then following with: 'Just kidding. I'm serious 100 per cent of the time. #noLOLZ”.

Appearing on TV One's ‘Breakfast' show this morning to chat about her tweets and use of Tinder, Rebecca says she was just having a bit of laugh.

'I just can't stop laughing at it,” she told TV One's Breakfast.

'It started off as a huge joke and it's just blown up, but hey, I guess any press is good press, right?”

Rebecca says she's now met one of the Jamaican bobsled team, but although he was 'the coolest dude”, she's 'pretty sure he has a wife and kid”.

'I'm still single guys, if anyone's interested... No, no, no. I'm just always out for a laugh.”

lighten up, she has competed, did not do overly well, but better than you or I, so at the Winter Olympics the female athletes wear far too many clothes, so any "Sports Illustrated" pictures of Rebecca????
