Old Coach Road, near Paengaroa, remains closed as emergency services and contractors work together to removed an overturned fuel tanker.
The McFall fuel tanker crash at about 8.40am, rupturing two fuel compartments and causing petrol and diesel to leak onto the road.

Earlier this morning Maketu Fire Brigade chief fire officer Shane Beech told SunLive fuel is leaking from two ruptured sections of the fuel tank.
He says there was about 25,000 litres of petrol and diesel on board and about 16,000 litres had spilled onto the road.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Paul Raddon says the fuel had been leaking into a nearby open drain.
He says firefighters plugged the drain to stop the fuel getting into the environment.
The driver has been taken to Tauranga Hospital to be checked over.
Shane says the road is closed and will be for some time.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash and the commercial vehicle investigation unit has been called.

There are more reasons than just speed that could cause this. The crash unit should figure it out. Lets not speculate

been dry for so long and today we had a little wet stuff called rain which = ?????? slippery roads. Hint when no rain for 2 wks or more then rains drop your speed by 20% everywhere, i wonder how many had slippage on roundabouts today
