Crashed Audi missing woman's car

Police have confirmed the car found crashed off State Highway 2, near Whakamarama, with the body of a woman inside, belongs to missing Waihi Beach woman Kelly Ann Sinclair.

Police will not however confirm the deceased located inside the Audi is that of the missing 25-year-old until a formal identification process has been completed.

Kelly was last seen on Sunday, April 6, leaving a friend's house in Katikati about 11.20pm.

Police say Kelly was due heading to a friend's place in Mount Maunganui to stay the night but never arrived.

She was reported missing to police yesterday.

Western Bay of Plenty Area Commander Inspector Clifford Paxton told SunLive police were informed of a vehicle crashed down a bank at midday today.

He earlier said initial indications are the car was travelling north when it crossed the centreline on a left hand bend and crashed off SH2.

That vehicle has now been confirmed as the missing woman's Audi.

The serious crash investigation unit is looking into the crash and police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the Blue 1997 Audi A3 late Sunday night and today.
