Australian Idol winner Stan Walker joins some of New Zealand's top bands playing at the Matakana Island Natural Breeze Music Festival on Saturday January 16.

Australian Idol Stan Walker is just one of the acts at the festival.

Stan is originally from Tauranga and organisers of the festival say locals are excited to have him return to perform his first New Zealand festival in his hometown.
Other bands at the festival include Katchafire, Herbs, Maisey Rika, PNC, 1814, Regan, and more.
Festival goers began heading to the island by barge on Saturday morning for the full-day event which ends at 8.45pm.
The family-friendly event is alcohol and drug free.
Tickets cost $52 and include barge transport. Park'n'Ride' points include Totara St Mount Maunganui, Sulphur Point Tauranga, and Omokoroa. Private vehicles cannot be taken to the island during the festival.
Food and drink will be on sale but people are welcome to bring a picnic.
