For the second time in three weeks John Paul College and Reporoa College went into battle in the BOP Polytechnic Secondary Schools First XV competition.
In the first final game to decide the Division Two first round title, Reporoa College won a titanic struggle to grab a one-point victory.
On Saturday, Reporoa College travelled to Rotorua to meet their archrivals in a Division One competition game.
In another encounter that went down to the wire, John Paul College emerged triumphant to take a 10-7 victory - and square the season ledger with one game apiece.
JPC fullback Matt Temm raced over for his side's try with Trevor Fitzell kicking the conversion and adding a penalty goal. Reporoa's points came from a touchdown awarded to Matt Axtens with Logan Curry slotting the conversion.
In the Eastern Bay, last season Division One champions Opotiki College laid down the gauntlet to the other championship contenders with a 15-7 win against Te Puke High School. The victory takes the defending champions to the top of the points leader board.
Western Heights, which has a proud history in Bay of Plenty Schools rugby, joined Opotiki at the top of the table with a solid 35-14 win over Whakatane High School. Bethlehem College and Trident battled to a 10-all draw in the Western Bay of Plenty.
Division Two honours were taken out by Rotorau Boys, Otumoetai, Mount Maunganui and Edgecumbe.
