Play rugby for the holiday

While there is a myriad of school holiday programmes available for young people in the Bay of Plenty - the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union offers the region's rugby mad youngsters a chance to improve their rugby skills while having a heap of fun.


Junior 7s is expected to round off the next Bay of Plenty Rugby holiday programme.

Such was the success of the Bay of Plenty Rugby holiday programme at the end of term one that it will return in the July holiday break in three Bay of Plenty sub-regions.
The programme is on tour with the first port of call being Rotorua on the July 8-9. The second is at Mount Maunganui on July 12-13 and the third in Whakatane on July 15-16.
The BOPRU holiday programme is designed to teach youngsters 7-12 years of age the fundamental skills of rugby.
There is a strong emphasis for the rugby mad participants on having fun as well as learning new skills.
Positive feedback from parents of the initial Bay of Plenty Rugby holiday programme will see some emphasis on tackling and defence, in July - with the likelihood of sevens rugby to round out the three regional programmes.
