Kevin Hague speaks in Tauranga

The Green Party's health spokesperson Kevin Hague is coming to Tauranga next week to host a ‘Good Lives, Healthy Future' public meeting.

Green Party health spokesperson Kevin Hague is holding a public meeting called ‘Good Lives, Healthy Future' in Tauranga next week.

Taking the Green Party vision of an active, educated, and healthy society on the road,

Tauranga is one of 25 venues nationwide the MP is visiting nationwide.

On Wednesday night, Kevin will be speaking about the challenges facing Kiwis in health and healthcare, and positive Green solutions, including a focus on preventing illness before it happens.

'I have been touring the country over these couple of months to talk about our heath sector, what's broken and the Green vision of what we can do to fix it,” says Kevin, who entered Parliament in 2008 after being chief executive of the West Coast District Health Board.

He's also a previous executive director of the NZ AIDS Foundation and a former National Health Committee member and former chair of the NZ Public Health Advisory Committee.

Kevin says he's met with people who work in the health sector and the general public to talk about health issues in New Zealand.

'The simple fact is that the current Government has avoided the big issues in health.

'They have taken the approach of not rocking the boat in the short term, but all that's going to lead to is much bigger problems in the future.

'They're not putting in enough money, and what they are putting in they're spending on the wrong things.

Kevin says the Green Party has a plan for delivering good lives and a healthy future for everyone.

'After more than 25 years in the Health sector, I am excited about our plan and would love to talk with you about it when I come to your town.”

Kevin's Tauranga public meeting ‘Good Lives, Healthy Future' is on Wednesday, June 4, from 7pm at Wesley Centre, 100 13th Ave, Tauranga.
