What's on Today? Warrior run

Good morning Sunners,

Tauranga residents are channelling their inner warriors to take on a one-of-a-kind challenge this morning.

The Gym Tauranga members ready for the Warrior Run today.

Organised by The Gym, the Random Acts of Kindness Warrior Run on June 15 will see teams of four tested mentally and physically in the 4km event while raising money for long-time team member Jill Voyce and husband Rod.

Rod was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and given a possible nine-12 months to live, with treatment.

Hearing the news, The Gym owners Lindsay and Lisa Chan set up the Warrior Run to fund a honeymoon in the Pacific Islands for the couple who married at Easter.

The Warrior Run, spanning 4km at TECT All Terrain Park, will include challenges such as climbing over walls, crawling under fences, ropes, sandbags, tyres, hills, and burpees.

The run begins at 9am today, with prize giving at 11am.

Model aircrafts are up for auction today.

Meanwhile, dozens of model aircrafts, parts and engines will be on auction at Classic Flyers today as part of the Tauranga Model Aircraft Club's annual fundraising event.

Registration for auction times begin at 8.30am with the auction underway at 10am.

There is expected to be a large collection of a deceased estate, including un-opened kits, partially-completed kits, completed kits, engines, old diesel engines and building materials up for auction.

The event is the major fundraiser for the Tauranga Model Aircraft Club, with funds going towards the development of the club's site at TECT All Terrain Park.
