Kauaeranga Valley Rd has been re-opened to vehicles this week, much to the delight of locals and visitors to the area.

During last month's weather storm a slip occurred 3km past the Department of Conservation's visitor centre, which forced the road to close.

Motorists are being asked to take care where the road drops down to one lane, where the slip occurred. A traffic management plan is in place.

This section of the road could also be closed again without warning due to severe weather or at the discretion of DOC.

The bridge at the bottom of the Billygoat track, an alternate route down from the Pinnacles, is also still closed due to flood damage.

DOC is warning people not to cross the river at this point either during or after heavy rainfall.
