Greerton Village Mainstreet is branching out by seeking to replace overgrown tulip trees on Cameron Road with additional cherry blossoms.
The trees in front of the shopping centre along Cameron Road have grown so big they are impacting underground services and lifting footpaths, and will be felled later this year.

Greerton Village Mainstreet manager Victoria Thomas this week told Tauranga City councillors she would like replacement trees planted early so they are already established when the tulip trees are removed.
'It needs to happen soon and I really, really want to have a discussion about getting replacements so the little trees can get established.”
When councillor Catherine Stewart asked what the replacements should be, Victoria requested cherry blossoms.
Victoria also wants TCC to look at replacing the damaged footpaths, which are nearing the end of the 15 year life expectancy.
TCC communications manager Frank Begley says Council staff with now organise a meeting with Greerton Village Mainstreet to discuss timing around the felling of the trees and planting of the replacements.
Greerton's Chadwick Road cherry blossoms are a colourful and popular addition to the suburb, and the focus of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, which attracts thousands of people every year.
This year's festival is on this Saturday, September 27 from 10.30am-3pm, with entertainment including a car show, market stalls, face painting, balloon twisting, amusement rides, street performers, and live music.
Chadwick Road will be closed from the Cameron Road roundabout through to the Greerton Road roundabout from 8.30am-3.30pm.
