Air-gun club opens its doors

Tauranga Airsoft Club wants everyone to know how much fun shooting air-guns pellets at friends can be.
The club is holding a public open evening at the Elizabeth St Hall, also known as the Tauranga Small Bore Rifle Club/Legion of Frontiersmen Hall, from 6-8pm, Monday September 20.

Airsoft players often use air-guns designed as replicas of real firearms.

Club member Reuben Ellett says the evening will be a chance to learn more about this modern combat sport and check out some of the equipment used.
'People will be able to have a hold of the air guns and even fire them down the indoor range,” says Reuben.
Airsoft can be played indoors or outdoors and the club organises regular activities. Games range from short 'skirmishes” played at close quarters to organised battle scenarios, military simulations and historical re-enactments.
Participants often use weaponry designed as replicas of real firearms, tactical gear and accessories used by modern military and police organisations.
