Man pinned under lawn mower dies

UPDATED: The 58-year-old man who died after being pinned under a lawn mower in Paengaroa has been named as Michael Donald Fox.

Emergency services were called to a rural property at around 10pm last night after the man's neighbours found Michael pinned under a ride-on mower.

A man has died following an accident on a rural Paengaroa property overnight.

Police say the matter is now before the Coroner.

A service for Michael, also known as Foxy, will be held at The Orchard, McLoughlin Drive, in Te Puke on Thursday at 1pm.

This will be followed by a private cremation.

A funeral notice for the 58-year-old describes him as a "dearly loved husband of Glenys, loved father of Natasha and dearly loved Koro of Azalea. Loved son of Rona and Allan and dearly loved brother and brother-in-law of Nigel and Lynley, Gregory and Jeanettes and Murray and Adrea."

A Te Puke St John spokesperson says the man was dead when they arrived at the scene.

'His neighbours had gone looking for him when he failed to return home from being out on the farm,” adds the spokesperson.

"He had fallen down a 10m bank."

Tauranga Police Sergeant Shannon Clifford says police were called to the scene and are not treating the death as suspicious.
