Convicted paedophile jailed

Convicted paedophile Trevor Hall has been sent to prison on historic sex charges.

The 62-year-old was due to be sentenced in October, but sentencing was adjourned following a reserve decision by Judge Thomas Ingram.

Trevor Richard Hall, 62.

In the High Court in Rotorua today, Hall was sentenced to 11 years and three months in jail after earlier admitting to a raft of sexual offences.

The charges included two counts of attempted sexual violation, three counts of indecently assaulting a female aged 12-16, two counts of unlawful sexual connection with a male, assaulting a boy aged 6-7 years and three counts of an indecent act with intent to injure.

The offences relate to three victims spanning a 14-year period between 1996 and 2010 in the Eastern Bay and the Coromandel.

In December last year, Hall was convicted on four charges of indecently assaulting a seven-year-old girl in 2012 and was sentenced to 12 months home detention.

He was also ordered to pay $2000 emotional harm reparation.

Police received the complaints about his offending after he was sentenced for exposing himself and masturbating in front of a seven-year-old girl, who he met through the Salvation Army in Whakatane.
