Yet another golden run on the water has seen Ohope kayaker Lisa Carrington nominated for Sportswoman of the Year at the inaugural World Paddle Awards.
Not only did the 25-year-old defend her K1 200m world title in Moscow, she also took away double gold in the 200m and 500m at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup in Milan – bolstering her form heading into Rio 2016.

The nomination follows the 25-year-old's unveiling as a Maori world champion at last month's annual Trillian Trust Maori Sports Awards.
The World Paddle Awards, the premier event in paddlesports and the first of its kind, celebrates excellence in paddlesports, achievements by athletes and those involved in the sport.
Other nominees include the Hungarian pair of Renata Csay and Danuta Kaozk, Nouria Newman of France and Japan's Hitomi Takaku.
Divided into seven categories, the awards saw hundreds of suggestions submitted with nearly 50 candidates selected for the next round of voting.
Voting closes late January 2015 before the top three finalists in each category are announced in February. The official award ceremony will be held in Augsburg, Germany on May 9.
World Paddle Awards director Rob van Bommel is delighted by the positive feedback from the nomination stage.
'It is amazing to see how many wonderful people and achievements there are in our paddlesports community,” says Rob
'We believe that the World Paddle Awards is a great initiative to promote our sport globally along with its wonderful achievements."
Since 2011 Carrington has been leading the way for the country's paddlers, becoming the first Kiwi woman to ever win a World Championship race in canoe sprint with gold in K1W 200m at Szeged.
The following year at the 2012 London Olympics, Carrington set a new Olympic record over 200m in 40.528 seconds in her semi-final run before going on to win the event.
Last year the Bay paddler won gold in the same 200m event at every World Cup in the season – something few athletes have been able to do.
