An earthquake measuring 2.7 on the richter scale has struck 10km west of Tokomaru Bay this afternoon.
Geonet reports the quake struck at a depth of 12km and hit at roughly 2.08pm.
It follows an earlier 3.8 magnitude quake which hit 15km north-west of Wairoa at a depth of 58km at about 6am this morning.
So far no damage has been reported and Sun Live will update once more information becomes available.
