Katikati cemented their position as the dominant force in the BOPCA McNaughton Trophy competition, in the last decade, winning the Baywide Reserve Grade prize for the third time in six seasons.
The Katikati First XI, faced a confident Greerton unit who had beaten the team from the Western Bay extremities, in the last qualifying round of the Western Bay Championship the previous day.
However Katikati, who were playing in their sixth successive McNaughton Trophy Final, had little fear of the pressures of winner take all cricket.
Katikati took first use of the new wicket on Blake Park and reached 140 for the loss of nine wickets, in their allotted 40 overs.
Ben Warren top scored with 32 with Ryan Brown reaching 22 before being dismissed. Scott Drabble bowled with plenty of enthusiasm to grab four wickets for just 16 runs with Danny Pokai taking three wickets.
Chasing just three and a half runs per over, Greerton made a good start with opener Neil Flack reaching 30 before he was dismissed.
At 51 for the loss of two, Greerton were in good shape, however the introduction of the Katikati spinners at each end dramatically changed the momentum of the game.
The Katikati spin bowlers strangled their opponent's attempts to hit out, with two Greerton run outs not helping their cause, as Greerton were bowled out for 97.
Mitch Rao and Ben Warren both took three wicket bags, with Ryan Brown also getting amongst the action with two wickets.
McNaughton Trophy Final:
Katikati 140/9 (Ben Warren 32, Ryan Brown 22; Scott Drabble 4/16, Danny Pokai 3/20) defeated Greerton 97 (Neil Flack 30; Mitch Rao 3/10, B Warren 3/16, R Brown 2/21).
