If you're down in Waihi this weekend then make sure you chop to it and head along to a Family Fun Day taking place on Kenny St this Saturday.

To help celebrate the launch of Stihl Shop Waihi the celebration will feature Timbersports World Champion Jason Wynyard plus oodles of entertainment for both young and old, from 9am.

Owners Greg McLarnon and Siobhan FitzGerald says this weekend's Family Fun Day will also feature the Waihi Fire Brigade who will be giving children fire engine rides on the day.

'It'll be great to have the brigade down,” says Siobhan. 'They're all volunteers doing a lot of work for our community so it will be nice to give something back.

'Stihl Shop Waihi is a proud supporter of the community and on opening day will gift a chainsaw to the local fire brigade to thank them for their commitment to Waihi.”

There will also be free face-painting for the young and the ‘young at heart', as well as a live chainsaw carving demonstration.

You can also support the Waihi Warriors League Club who will be holding a sausage sizzle during the event.

And if that's not enough, one lucky person will also walk away with a STIHL MS 251 CBEQ Chainsaw and safety pack, valued at over $1,000.

Formerly known as the Waihi Outdoor Power, this Saturday's event is to officially celebrate the locally run store joining the Stihl Shop Dealer Network.

Rebranded as Stihl Shop Waihi, it will remain on Kenny St and both Greg and Siobhan thank the community for their support of the business.

The Family Fun Day will take place at 36 Kenny Street, Waihi, on Saturday, April 18, from 9am-2pm.
