The man accused of murdering a Russian national in a hit-and-run incident in Welcome Bay earlier this year will go to trial in September.
Raymond Green, 32, appeared in the High Court in Tauranga today charged with murder, driving while forbidden and refusing a blood specimen when requested by a police officer.
Raymond Green is accused of killing Ilya Olegovich Kojevnikov in a hit-and-run in Welcome Bay.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and will defend them at a trial on September 28.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
Green was arrested following a police investigation into the death Ilya Olegovich Kojevnikov on Monday, February 2.
Ilya was killed after being hit by a black Subaru on Welcome Bay Road, near James Cook Drive.
Green was arrested the following morning after police found a black Subaru at a Papamoa address.
The same vehicle is believed to have been used in the fatal incident.
Green has been remanded in custody until the trial, which is scheduled to take place in the High Court in Rotorua.
