Alleged assault in Wellington

Police are investigating how a 45-year-old male sustained serious injuries in Titahi Bay last night.

Police say the man sought assistance from the occupants at an address on Main Rd, Titahi Bay, shortly after 11pm on Saturday.

He was then taken to Wellington Hospital with serious head injuries. He has been admitted and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Sears says police are still attempting to establish his movements last night.

"It appears he sustained his injuries before arriving alone at this address. He was not known to the occupants of the house. Due to his injuries Police have not yet been able to speak to him.”
