Battle looms in Pennants

It is crunch time for Bay of Plenty golfers who fancy their chances at some silverware with the final round of Championship Pennants along with semifinals for Men's Senior division and Women's Championship this weekend.

In the Championship Division, Omanu have been consistently the top team all season and with their club hosting the finals must be hot favourites to take the title for the first time since 2001.

However, there is a real battle to find their opponents as Mount Maunganui, Kawerau, Omokoroa and Tauranga all within 2 points of each other.

This Sunday at Te Puke the Mounties look like having the best draw as they are up against Springfield who need a miracle to avoid being relegated.

Omanu face Kawerau which should put paid to the Foresters chances while hopefuls Tauranga and Omokoroa face off with both teams in search of a comprehensive victory to leap frog the Mount.

The women's Championship semifinals will see Mount Maunganui up against home team Tauranga and Omanu playing Eastern.

The men's senior division semifinals at Te Puke will see Omanu playing Rotorua and Tauranga facing off against Opotiki.

The Intermediate and Junior finalists have been found with Tauranga playing Omanu for the Intermediate flag and Ohope up against Kawerau for the Junior title.

All finals will be played at Omanu Golf Club on Sunday May 17.
